Notes on the S-module

The icosahedron at left has the same edge lengths as the cuboctahedron, was developed from the cuboctahedron by the jitterbugging operation.

Note that the icosa's faces do not present flush to the octahedron's surface, as do the cuboctahedron's.

In this version, everything is the same except the icosahedron has been scaled up by a factor of root(2)(3-root(5)).

Eight of the icosahedron's faces are now flush with the octahedron's. Clearly the icosa's edges are no longer unit (no longer the same length as the cubocta's).
