Over billions of years, megatons of crustal matter have been
exchanged between planets due to meteorite impact,
and the process is still going on. There are probably many
kilograms of potentially active Earth biological material there,
and if there was abundant life on Mars, kilograms have
made it here....

Paul Davies' recent book "The Eerie Silence" is focused on
these questions. He suggests the cheapest way to find
"extraterrestrial" life is to look right here. Find
extremophiles that don't sequence right, that are very
weird and possibly have an entirely separate life history.

Sequence everything, look for anomalies. Let's get started.
